Grief: an Update/Ball in a Box Analogy

Grief: an Update/Ball in a Box Analogy

Hello everyone, and welcome to Therapeutic Thursday! I know I’ve shared my story of grief a few different times and in different ways between my blog and The Bipolar Writer Blog, but today I wanted to give an update on grief, how I’ve been dealing with and managing my grief, as well as talk about the Twitter sensation “the ball in the box.”

The Office: Everything Wrong with Jim Halpert (a rant)

The Office: Everything Wrong with Jim Halpert (a rant)

Hello and happy Talkative Tuesday on my blog! I’ve done this once before with Rory from Gilmore Girls, discussing one of my usual binge-worthy shows and a character that I find some pretty big flaws in. The Office is probably my number one, go-to, binge-watch-worthy, what to put on when nothing is on type of show. I enjoy it as white noise as well as being able to pick up at any episode and know exactly what is going on. And yet… the beloved Jim Halpert, I have a few issues with.

Anxiety & Eating Disorders/My Food Struggles

Anxiety & Eating Disorders/My Food Struggles

Hello all and welcome to another Therapeutic Thursday! The topic of food has always been a touchy subject for me. When offered to go out to eat with friends or order food while we’re out for drinks, or even if offered to go over to someone’s house for dinner, I freeze. When I am at public events where there is food available, I usually stay on the opposite side of the room. I’d love to say I don’t have anything against food, but I guess that isn’t true. But the majority of it is anxiety-based.

Why I keep my taste in music “private”

Why I keep my taste in music “private”

Happy Talkative Tuesday!! A few months back, I decided to try taking online dating a little more “seriously” (actually opening it occasionally instead of it just sitting on my phone), and got into a conversation about my taste in music. Very basic “getting to know you” type of conversation, yet I felt like my personal life was being invaded. I found myself turning evasive and unwilling to give an actual answer. I gave a generic “I listen to all sorts of music” type of answer, which isn’t untrue, but he did seem confused and almost flustered that I wouldn’t list a favorite band or anything of the sort. It really got me thinking as to why I could not provide a good answer for this gentleman.

Co-Morbidity Part 5 – Anxiety & “OCT”

Co-Morbidity Part 5 – Anxiety & “OCT”

Happy Therapeutic Thursday!! It’s been a while since my last co-morbidity post but today I have an addition. Anxiety and “OCT.” What is OCT you might be asking yourself? Well, it is what I call obsessive-compulsive tendencies. I do not have the disorder OCD, but what goes hand-in-hand with anxiety are some obsessive-compulsive tendencies. Here’s my explanation:

Anxiety: Side Effects (Pros & Cons)

Anxiety: Side Effects (Pros & Cons)

Happy Talkative Tuesday! In my recent post about the 12 Habits Anxiety Gave Me, it got me thinking quite a bit about the various “side effects” (as I like to call them) of anxiety. I know there is a large stigma attached to anxiety, as well as the rest of the mental health world, but I feel as though there are multiple pros and cons to having an anxiety disorder. Allow me explain.

12 Habits Anxiety Gave Me

12 Habits Anxiety Gave Me

Today is Therapeutic Thursday, so I thought I’d share some of the “odd” and not-so-odd things I do because of or to “cope with” my anxiety. These are just the physical/outward things, not what goes on in my mind. If you’re new, or just need a reminder, I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) as well as social anxiety. Here are some of the possibly odd things I do thanks to it. 🙂
